
Let’s be honest: installing heaters 20 or 30 feet up in the air is a nightmare. Not the installation part—it’s the maintenance. Nobody wants to rent a scissor lift and shut down a section of the warehouse just because one lamp burned out. When you’re dealing with those kinds of heights, things tend to go wrong in two specific ways: moisture and condensation. Here is the real problem with moisture. In a big industrial space, you get these wild temperature swings. Water starts to bead up on the heater casing and the quartz tube. It looks like a bit of fog, but it’s actually dangerous. When a tiny drop of cold water hits that scorching hot tube, it creates a “thermal shock.” The quartz gets a micro-crack. Then, the seal breaks. And boom—the tungsten filament burns out almost instantly. To stop this, we changed the actual shape of the reflector and housing. We tweaked the geometry to move the airflow around the emitter, which keeps the dew point far away from the parts that actually get hot. It’s a simple fix, but it saves a lot of headaches. Then there’s the “splash” factor. Warehouses are messy. Whether it’s a stray spray of coolant or just a leaky pipe, one splash of liquid on a powered element will shatter the tube on the spot. We didn’t just slap a sticker on it and call it “water-resistant.” We used heavy-duty gaskets and reinforced seals to keep liquids away from the electrical terminals. Plus, we used wiring that can actually handle the rough-and-tumble of a real installation without fraying or snapping. Now, there is a trade-off. Because we added this protective shielding, the heat doesn’t blast out quite as raw as an open-element heater. You might notice it takes a few seconds longer to feel the warmth. But in exchange, you get thousands of extra hours of life out of the unit. One quick tip: when you’re wiring these in, double-check that your circuit breakers can handle the initial startup surge. Get the power supply right, and these things will just sit up there and work for years. You can forget about the scissor lifts.
